Getting Down to Business

Tuesday, September 13, 2011

Dustin was awarded an alto sax in 2006 through the Michael Kamen Solo Program. Only 16 at the time, he showed exceptional talent and passion for life and for his music. We're thrilled with his progress!

"I'm currently on my 5th year of undergrad at USC, and will be graduating in May 2012. These last few semesters have been busy for me. I’ve picked up a Business Administration minor along with my BM in Music Industry, have interned for multiple companies such as Warner Records, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, and currently working as a Music Supervisor Assistant at NBC Universal. I’ve also had the opportunity to play with the USC Wind Ensemble, USC Saxophone Quartet, USC Jazz Ensemble, as well as my own jazz band during the weekends.
My musical journey would not have been possible had I not found support from such an amazing foundation. As graduation nears, I can look back and be grateful for an instrument that has played a crucial role in my education as well as my current professional career. My hopes are that this foundation continue its mission of providing instruments to underserved youth for years to come. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to get involved with your foundation. I would love to contribute in any way possible!

Best,

Dustin Barrera"
